In fact, he argued the exact opposite.
The Judiciary has a mechanism for appealing District Court decisions through the Circuit Courts and onto SCOTUS if necessary. I don’t have a problem with Federal Judges temporarily halting executive action to prevent irreparable harm resulting from unconstitutional acts.
It’s the 50 States taking different actions regarding Federal laws that I believe would split the country - AFAIK, there is no mechanism to reconcile State nullification.
