costs to develop products then have another Chinese business reverse engineer it for cheaper short cutting the whole process. Once reverse engineered, with cheaper labor costs and the capital inflows from the trade deficit they can fund their own R&D on top of what they stole (from western view), then get products to the market faster with more features. With not having IP laws they can copy the best features from multiple companies. Whereas here in the US, an Apple reverse engineering Samsung would draw expensive lawsuits.

US businesses are at a disadvantage in ways beyond just labor costs.
