"The Catholic Church" did NOT have slaves, unless one counts the many saints who claim(ed) to be slaves of Christ.
Of course, there had been some members of the Church who had slaves, but that was not "the Church", and the Church did officially have some encyclicals/papl bulls specifically against slavery and especially its most egregious abuses very early on.
The bottom line is that the countenancing of slavery had never been a doctrine of the Church, much less a dogma, your implication to the contrary notwithstanding.
