But in the context of abortion or slavery or any other argument/discussion where people want to dehumanize other human beings, the relevant point is that all human beings are persons, worthy of the respect and dignity inherent in their humanity.

If you want to wax eloquent on the philosophy of personhood, go for it, as long as you don't allege that some human beings are not persons and therefore do not have the inherent human rights of persons under the law.
