junior high track meet in Columbia last night. Had to stay to the very end to watch one of our Columbia Grandsons run in the 4X400 relay. All his events are sprints. About two or three races before his race was scheduled some sort of altercation occurred between diverse members of two Columbia teams. The first indication of a disturbance was a chorus of screams from dozens of female athletes, followed by maybe half of the kids on the field and in the stands rushing toward an area behind the visitors bleachers. A few of the adult coaches and meet officials also ran to the incident area. As the screaming and ruckus continued the first of about a half dozen police cruisers arrived, sirens and lights blazing. After about ten minutes the PA announcer asked everyone to leave the stadium. The track meet was over. I've seen no reports of the incident on Columbia local news.
