No dog in the fight and don’t personally know Carr or her family. Have seen her pitch a couple of times. She plays against legit competition in the summer. Plays with Select Fastpitch out of KC and her team has a couple commits going to Tennessee, one to Florida State, another besides her to Mizzou, one to Wichita State etc..so they compete well and hit the big tournaments — Colorado, Texas, California…
As far as performance against the tops teams in the country, I looked at her team’s online box scores from last summer. Some teams put the school the player is committed/signed to in their box scores. She pitched 3 separates games against a Unity team out of Virginia that had a batting lineup of either freshman in college this year or will be next year like Carr. Leadoff is at Texas A&M now, 2nd hitter at LSU this year, 3 hole hitter at Tennessee, Cleanup at Arizona State , 5th at Florida next year, 6th at Boston College next year, 7th at Texas A&M next year, 8th at Ohio State, 9th at Virginia next year and extra hitter going to LSU. Their pitcher is going to UCLA. Carr threw 9.1 innings against them over the three games, gave up 1 earned run, walked 3 and struck out 3. Small sample but not nothing either.
I think it is unfair to expect her to come in next year and be a savior. Tennessee’s all-world pitcher was good as a freshman but didn’t dominate like she did last year or this year as well. Still think Carr is a big get by Mizzou and will help the pitching staff a lot next year.
