neither HC looks like they can do that and rely on assistants. HCD failed when he "tried" to call plays. Like many here watching successful coaches, Gates doesn't work the refs enough, and doesn't seem involved in directing much floor play.
Finding the politically correct culture builder has fit the MU organizational plan and is a huge reason for the limited success.
