A few years ago I gave a quote to an engineering company for a radio system along a major N/S highway in British Columbia.
All the base station repeaters were going to have to be helicoptered into mountaintops and setup with solar chargers for battery operation. I was glad we didn't get it, quite frankly.
Did a air ambulance dispatch center in Alaska and the show Northern Exposure reflecting a slower lifestyle isn't wrong. I had reached out to a local radio shop to get some basic work done and we ended up doing most of it ourselves. They just had a lackadaisical attitude and from talking to a friend who worked at a Motorola shop, that is the norm.
