OTOH, what were Russia's war aims? At the start of their invasion Putin stated the goals were to denazify, demilitarize, prevent the Ukraine from joining NATO and protect the Russian citizens in the Donbas and other Russian majority Oblasts? They have never stated they intended to occupy the entire country.
