There is a pretty huge drop off between even the new Big 12 and G5 now as the Big 12 poached most of the best programs that were previous G5. Boise St. is basically all that's left.

Highest ranked G5 league champion will never be ranked above the SEC or B1G champ and almost never ACC or Big 12 champ.

So let me rephrase: Ditch the conference title affiliation to anything. It will work itself out in the rankings anyway and teams will be more properly seeded.
