He knew the economy was going to be an iffy thing just because it could be eventually shown that the economy is actually doing well (it is by the way) and the Republicans know that immigration is a hot button issue. And one that Biden has been attacked on. Removing that would take away a major leverage point for Trump. And of course, who cares about what's best for USA. This is Trump.
