to start and play on the team.

Also, the court/judge didn't rule on this just to pass time. Shannon/Illinois hired attorneys and specifically fought the suspension.

If they hadn't hired those attorneys to appeal the suspension, the suspension would not have been overturned. They actively sought to get their best player reinstated, charges be damned.
