had Mizzou end the season ranked #5 twice, plus three other seasons ending ranked. He did that for a school that had two season over .500 in the previous 20.

So no, I don't think Pinkel's teams' wilted under the lights or never won games they weren't supposed to (whatever that means). It seems to me your criticism about his teams only winning games they were supposed to overlooks him taking a moribund program into one in which they were supposed to win 8-10 games a year, which is what he did 2006-2014 every year except 1.
