and TV viewership. Athough I agree it was a good salvage effort by the b12, the conference is certifiably weaker than the original b12. No debate.
There was leverage for TCU to make the CFP because solely of the presence of OU and TX in the conference. Or in other words, a facade that TCU must be that good since they won the conference, a conference that only typically sends OU to the CFP (where they typically got embarrassed) and a conference just waiting for TX to get back to Mack Brown TX-level.
However and really bad for the new b12, TCU getting beat by 60 pretty much ensures that a big 12 team must go undefeated and then hope one of the blue-blood conference runner-ups doesn't finish with just 1 loss. Even 2 losses would get 'Bama in over someone like Iowa St. going undefeated.
You didn't just lose OU and TX on the field. You lost them in perception, which clearly was more valuable.
