I don’t think the calendar is long enough to justify it. You would almost be better off going for a domed stadium (which people won’t want and would be costly) to guarantee dates and be used for other things.
Hearnes location is where it should go IMO. But you need a place for volleyball, wrestling and indoor track. Indoor track facility would go well where Taylor is located and next to outdoor track.
It would make more sense IMO to partner with city to build a smallish arena downtown that could become the home of volleyball, wrestling, WBB, gymnastics and, more importantly, be used for convention/concerts? Move Norm Stewart Classic there? A lot more dates to help out downtown businesses and justify eminent domain.
My biggest fear is they are just going to use up Lot M, crush tailgating and make football less fun atmosphere.
