2015 was one thing but the school alienated many with its move to the SEC too.
MO basically has 4 regions that aren’t aligned. Springfield cares about Springfield and frankly seems more inclined toward other universities (not that this shocking). StL wants its way, KC increasingly feels like it would like to just be annexed by ks, relocating business and cultural attractions. Outstate is simply depopulating and isn’t as pro- Mizzou as it once was as the school increasingly seems inclined to urban interests (which isn’t shocking considering that’s where the political power, money, alums and students reside). I frankly think it’s going to take a strong Governor that wants Mizzou to be a top place to be in stuff that matters to the progress of MO like having top medical, business and engineering schools. But parochialism is a tough nut to crack. And politicians are mostly loyal to their region/city. It might help to end the univ. system. I’d like to see separate curators/regents for Rolla, UMSL and UMKC that focus solely on that institution.
