There have a been a number of folks on here who have brought up this topic, and it needs to be understood.
Go back and watch some of the video footage of the hiring "process." Members of the Curators who have no business being involved at any level in Athletics, were on those planes.
Outside of Columbia, MO, and in higher ed academics and athletics, people know that Mizzou is a mess.
Was 2015 fair to most of the alumni who have supported the University? Absolutely not. That being said, the damage caused from that time still exists.
We now have a University led by a heavily-partisan board, with BOC members appointed at the recommendation of the University/System President, and with the "you bet" endorsement of an accidental Governor.
Mizzou's problems are deeper than the football field. The University is run by crazy-ego's...not adept administrators.
Look no further than the NexGen Research facility, built with no plan, funded by System reserves and then to add insult to injury, they throw Roy Blunt's name on it...for free.
Blunt got Cliff Smart $55 million in appropriations at Missouri State.
Until Athletics and the Administration can be totally separated, this problem will persist.
