It was never personal with Odom. As an alum, I wish he had Drink's recruiting skills (and other intangibles) because he was more likely to stay if he had major success. But his alum status is the only reason he got the job in the first place.
My support for Drink isn't personal either. I like 95% of what he's done so far, and I genuinely believe that NIL will be a challenge going forward (until it's reformed), but he still needs to show that he's the *best available option* for MU. So far he's done that, since I can't think of any realistic replacement that would be better.
