Each year, you play four of the seven other teams that finished in the same place divisionally as you did.
The teams that do not qualify for the playoff or a bowl game can continue practicing during bowl season and schedule a scrimmage/exhibition against one of the other non-postseason participants to make a 12th game. On campus or in a regional metro area stadium.
