evidence is very clear that life begins at conception. So unless you are against all abortion at any time, a very small minority of the people, then the argument really becomes when do we start valuing that life?
These seem to be the obvious choices to me
1. Conception
2. Heartbeat
3. When it appears human
4. Brain activity can be detected
5. Viability
6. Birth
7. Self aware
8. Can care for self
9. Becomes a productive member of society
I think valid arguments could be made for any of these. I personally think anything after 4 would be immoral but different people have different world views than me. The purpose of our legislative system is to hash out these differences and find a compromise that a vast majority can live with.
