Had some time today to visit with a few folks that supported this hire and they were very compelling. This guy has been successful everywhere he’s been. He has spent time in the NBA (Clippers), was an “Associate Head Coach” at NIU at age 28.

Apparently he has a knack for coaching bigs. We are going to see waves of players (what Cuonzo always said he wanted to do but never could) crashing the offensive glass, high FG%, and unselfish play (assists due to easy inside buckets).

Every reference raves about him - yes I know who is going to talk bad - but there are many many supposedly that go back to his time at Cal. He is no sprung chicken. Cleveland State fans are CRUSHED. And also now big time Mizzou fans.

All of this negative nonsense (actually by only a select, very persistent and loud few on this board) will go away WAY before he coaches his first game. This man is going to put together a a dynamite staff and recruit a group of players we haven’t seen, collectively, in a long time.

So chill out, Tiger fans. We just landed a gem and a MAJOR upgrade from our current status. Welcome Dennis Gates!
