second as fueling the fanbase. The fanbase was fueled by a ton of success and a large number of people close to Lincoln.

Between metro Omaha and Lincoln there are over a million people within a 1 hour drive to Lincoln. That is a lot of people within a pretty short proximity.

Omaha is 3 hour drive from Arrowhead and there are quite a few Chiefs fans there. Just because there is no NFL team within the state borders does not preclude people from following pro sports or going to pro games. I know both KC Chiefs and Vikings season ticket holders in Omaha.
