Sometimes I wonder about screen time effects

I don't have much contact at all with school age kids, but I wonder about the effects of near constant screen time (staring at phones or computers) on the attention spans of school age kids.

We are running a huge experiment in this country in child development. Hope it all turns out ok.

But I know in my career the ability to concentrate on detailed tasks was very important. I wonder if kids have a lower capability to concentrate because of excess screen time.
