there been some successful coaches that went from being an assistant to the head coach of a p6 team? i.e. Quinn Synder to Missouri? Mike Hopkins at Washington? Both of those had a little success, but also have/had issues.

Who is the example of that working for a long term?
Greg Gard maybe?
