MU hired someone in 2014 in his 60s that had last been associated with D1 basketball as an assitant coach in the prior century with no D1 head coaching experience. He would not have been on the list of possible candidates for any other major D1 job in the country and had passed over 4 previous times the job came open by the same AD at MU who hired him.
