It is far less contagious than COVID in general. The mere number of cases we have proves that.

It is probably a good deal more lethal than flu.

It is essentially non-contagious when asymptomatic, because it becomes symptomatic very quickly, which COVID often does not.

And we have a vaccine which prevents or mitigates it.

What we are doing here is balancing cost vs benefit. The cost of wearing a mask is the same with either disease. The benefit is much greater with COVID. So that ratio is much stronger towards masks with COVID than with flu.
