it's easy to make a complaint on an officer. I once had one where a woman refused to sign a traffic ticket after nearly wiping out a motorcycle--and I witnessed her left turn in front of the bike which had the rider running onto the shoulder to keep from being hit.
If it had been Missouri, I would have written "refused" on the signature line and tossed the ticket in her back seat and walked away. But since it was Kansas, I had to place her under arrest, transport her to the station, and allow her to bond out on (wait for it) her signature and DL giving her promise to appear.
Waste of my time.
So she beefed me.
IA investigation, and our dept took them seriously. So a neighborhood canvass revealed a couple who had watched the entire incident from across the street and through their front screen door. Said I couldn't have been more polite and professional. Saved my ass from a made up story of abuse and disrespect.
And yes, she was black.
