1. an alliance between the b12 and p12 that would bring cross-conference games and the p12 network to the plains states. maybe one or two football games per school, plus some hoops like ku v. zona would be a great one.

2. a p12 splinter that brought the arizona schools to the b12. they left the border conference in 1961. that league had several texas schools. i can't see cu coming back. they belong with the leftists.

the california schools will not want to separate for academic reputation reasons. the northwest schools live at the behest of california's, much as the b12 members dance to texas and ou's card.
