string theory. You don’t need to be to teach basic kinematics. By your definition no one is a subject matter expert because there are always things you do not know no matter how well versed you may be in a subject.

A subject matter expert simply knows more than his audience. Once your audience nears your level of understanding you send them off to the next subject matter expert.

Isn’t that basically the idea behind high school, undergrad and graduate school?

I have no inflated sense of self I know how limited my knowledge is. Isn’t that the whole point of education? To expand your horizons and help you realize how much more s out there.
