They will definitely use all this as an excuse to try to push MFA. Bernie has been doing that for several months.
I'm not sure what failure you refer to.
1. The virus appeared.
2. The smartest epidemiologists in the country made certain projections, using the best information and science available.
3. The public socially distanced, far more effectively than most anticipated.
4. Millions upon millions of Christians prayed for relief from the disease.
5. The death and hospitalization rates have been much lower than the projections.
My personal opinion: God answered prayer.
But you can also make a case for the high effectiveness of social distancing.
Of course, since you don't know if God is going to answer prayer the way you want, you have to go ahead and do what is smart (social distancing), ergo you can't empirically prove cause and effect.
But I don't see a failure.
