The chances of our now 15 person freshman class of 2021 all being here for the full 4 years is not good, as some may eventually transfer, as happens all the time, for different reasons. But because all programs are going to be artificially bloated for the next 4 years, to varying degrees, the transfer opportunities are going to be more limited than before.
We are in a unique situation, and will lose only 1 senior after the 2021 season. And that’s only if Eli Daniel decides to return. She may or may not, I havnt heard anything about her intentions. At least most other schools will graduate a much larger group of seniors in 2021, although that will be minimized to some unknown extent by how many actually choose to return for another year of play.
But I think there is every chance we will have a 15 person freshmen class next year. The landscape at Mizzou has not really changed for the incoming freshmen, they knew we only had 1 senior graduating anyways. And they still all signed LOIs last December. I will be very surprised if any of the incoming freshmen will not show up in the fall.
So then it depends on the current freshmen class. Pitchers: Schumacher, Weber, Nichols. Position players: Cook, Moll, Warick, McGivern. All of them can contribute, particularly the pitchers, who are far and away the top 3 starters on the team right now (although I’m pretty certain the freshman hurler from Colorado, Krings, will be in the top 3 rotation next year). I think it’s very likely all 7 current freshmen come back, and the incoming class of 8 freshmen also show up.
