In terms of pay, $4M for Drink is a far better deal than $3M

for Odom. And the buyout is relatively small in case we need to fire him in 3 years. If he succeeds, then his $4M salary was justified.
Also, I wouldn't say he's "really" inexperienced. He earned an FBS-level head coaching job at App State, had success there, and became a fairly hot coaching commodity. There's higher risk with a coach like Drink, but also greater potential for high reward.
I have no expectations for the upcoming 2020 season. As long as recruiting is solid, the first season can be a "mulligan" as Drink lays ground work for the future. If we go 5-7 or worse, I'll remind myself that Matt Rhule went 2-10 at Temple and 1-11 at Baylor his first years of each job.
