Many of us have been here and followed this long before you came along. We went thru the ups and downs of conference realignment.

We only got desperate for 2days in 06/2010 when Texas took six teams to the PAC12 and being one of five teams in a (temporarily) disbanded conference, contemplating a Big East invite. Instead Dan Beebe, gave everything Texas wanted to stay, including bribe money from the five.

You need to quote your sources, because your cut and paste job above (Holy cow) was Alden explaining the situation after the PAC12 debacle, not before or during negotiations with B10 over membership.
