we were the fools. They were just doing what it took to be competitive in the conference and nationally. Unfortunately we were only school in Division I not only NOT taking Prop. 48s but in addition applying our "public ivy" standards of admission to the football team. It was crazy what was going on back then. The fools (Curators responsible at the time) actually thought the Big 10 was some kind of glorified Ivy League at the time. That's why they wanted to join it. When they found out Michigan, Michigan State etc were accepting Prop 48s also they were stunned.
