fans come in all kinds, and we need them all really.

I think many fans do try to protect themselves from disappointment and mental distress by simply trying not to give a crap ... that includes not coming to games.

The 2016 game against Purdue (35-3 humiliation at home, with team quitting) I know kept some of my colleagues away from the remaining home games

We were competitive against WY. Should not have lost, but didn't just get hammered like against Purdue in 2016. Still it is going to depress attendance and enthusiasm until something really good happens ... people trying to just not give a rip to avoid the disappointment
