In this game, Mizzou falls behind eventual national runner up Oklahoma by 16. Norm jumps to a zone defense which Stacey King admits in the post game interview caught OU off guard and made them start running their plays abnormally. Mizzou rallied from 16 down to within 1 point with about 30 seconds remaining before falling by 3.

Don't get me wrong Norm was nothing if not stubborn and he was very much married to a man to man.
More so, his "pack it in tight" philosophy was so frustrating when it would lead to Terry Brown or Scotty Thurman raining threes on us all night while the Mizzou defender is sloughed 5 feet off of him.
But Norm was a Henry Iba disciple (via Sparky Stalcup) who was one of the great defensive coaches of all time, and overall Norm's philosophy won a crap ton of games, so I cut him slack.
