is not what they are taught in textual criticism classes.

There is a theology interpretation of the text that mixes up stories from multiple writings and presents it as something new. Then there is what the actual text says.

Theologians later added new interpretations in the form of double fulfillment, blending of accounts that just do not actually exist.

Priests and other preachers (excluding evangelicals) know this and are taught this, but they do not share it.
