about Mizzou doing a true nationwide coaching search after the season is over. But I doubt if they will. You are right about Taylor getting a huge leg up in this situation. That was the Kreklows clear intent. The Kreklows left him with a pretty strong team. Besides the loss of Munlyn, which is huge, there is great returning talent.
I think the distinction you make regarding his title (interim vs full time head coach) is virtually meaningless. Unless the program totally tanks, and they won’t due to the returning talent, Taylor will be the coach in 2020. This is a done deal between Sterk and the Kreklows. We will see how it works out.
But make no mistake about it. Taylor has done less than anyone else to deserve a top P5 coaching position, given his age and lack of experience.
I am very much against this, as a matter of principle. Letting successful coaches dictate who succeeds them is a bad move. Letting them dictate that a family member succeeds them, shutting off the ability of a school to do a true nationwide search for the best coach available, is a hundred times worse. IMO.
