So they gave a convincing argument that it was a very recent decision? That’s good.
And they said they truly regretted forcing Mizzou to promote an unqualified family member because of the late timing? That that never entered their thought process at all in the timing of their decision? That’s good too.
Oh wait, maybe I dreamed that.
They know full well that they backed Mizzou into a corner by waiting until now to retire. And left Sterk with no time whatsoever to do a real nationwide coaching search. And assured that an inexperienced family member would take over for them.
Sorry but that stinks no matter how you look at it. It would be nice if they expressed even a little teeny tiny bit of regret at leaving Mizzou no time at all to do a real nationwide coaching search. I suspect they don’t care at all about that. I’m sure they are very happy that an inexperienced family member is getting promoted to head coach of a successful P5 program, a position he would not be remotely considered for at any other school. Except Mizzou.
