without the GOP doing the same thing in red states.

Currently New York has six GOP congressmen and California has seven. That would not be a huge swing if everyone of them went blue. Every state bordering Missouri is red, except Illinois, and every one of them except Arky and Neb have at least one Dem congressmen.

The blue states with huge populations don’t have many GOP seats and while the red states don’t have a ton of congressmen one or two seats from all of the red states would be just as damaging to the Dems as losing seats in NY and CA would be for the GOP.

Please explain why this message is being reported.
