I'm generally anti-war too. Rather than absolutes, however, I tend to view things in shades of gray. There are situations where you it may be necessary to take lives (e.g. to save your own), but it gets co-opted by other agendas. Don't disagree with what someone said below that morality can get set aside and that emotions can get played. it's on all of us to remain vigilant and to question the use of violence.
