Yes, that paper has always had a strong liberal bias. But up until about 2000 they made a specific effort to balance their extremely liberal editorial board with some very solid national conservatives who were regularly published. For years you knew the daily paper in KC would be full of local editorials that were strongly liberal, letters to the editor calling them out on their views BUT every day there was a guest editorial or a syndicated columnist giving a conservative view. Sometime around 2000, when I finally cancelled my subscription, they completely threw in the towel on presenting any orher side.
I never had an issue with their liberal slant as long as they also attempted to give some credence to the opposing view. Once they went full liberal rag it was time to quit giving them my money.
Did newspapers fail just because they were supplanted by newer technology or was part of the reason because they stopped listening to the desires of their readers?
