major factor for Tilmon. Once he left Illinois, Mark's only consideration was Mizzou...due largely to his previous commitment to the school. Pickett you can make more of a case for, but after Illinois, Mizzou was his only option for a major conference team.
Now, do you want to wonder about Martin's ability to recruit outside of direct local tie-ins? Go ahead. That is a reasonable question. Many of his commits were directly tied to Porter and many of the rest were due to his connection at ESLHS, or a kid previously committed to Mizzou. But there are two considerations at play, not just the one with Porter.
Pinson and Watson are the first one that really jump outside of that realm. Pinson appears to be a nice pickup, but he did not have a lot of options. I'd classify it as a nice talent evaluation more than a major recruiting coup.
Next, we will see with Jackson. We certainly all hope he is what his potential is regarded to be.
In 2020, there is no talent evaluation necessary. It's about being able to land major prospects and he has an inside hook with most of them.
