I could argue that giving money to a beggar is enabling bad behavior. Panhandlers often, not always, do that as their job. They beg for money rather than work for money. And they do reasonably well. There have been a few stories in the news lately about people begging on the street corner, and at 5 o’clock get picked up by their husband or spouse and driven to their late model car to drive home.
If you knew that the money they asked for to buy food, was instead of going to buy drugs, would you still give it to them?
