Said the country had its Protestant reformation about 100 years before Martin Luther, but the 30 year war meant the Czechs all became Catholic overnight for the next 300 years. Then Communism came along and there was no religion.
The after effects of that are many of the Czechs today will profess to believe in God but have no affiliation with religion. They celebrate the birth of the Christ child but give the Christmas story no connection to Jesus.
One of the students at his school (which is an American Christian school), after hearing scripture read daily FINALLY made the connection with the Christ child and Jesus and it was like a light bulb went off in her head. Also had a Chinese student of a diplomat attending their school and he couldn't figure that one out because China is working hard to stamp out religion in its own country.
