For the majority that are hired into positions in which they cannot contribute, they keep their job, keep their pay, keep their title and are put off in the corner someplace where they can't do too much damage.

Other than the occasional civil rights lawsuits and accusations of racism.

They are like tenured professors. They are entitled and fireproof.
