I agree the trades are vital - trade schools are vital

The idea underlying public high schools is that it would provide for our young citizens the skills needed to function in the local economy back in the day. Sanders proposes that that same HS education no longer provides the skills needed to compete as it once did. Now, it could be argued that that is not necessarily the case, but pretty easy to argue that it is.
I am blessed beyond measure to have had an excellent secondary education and a decent enough one from MU. There is end to the value of education.
Sanders point, driven on by that OCS chick or whatever her name is concludes that we apply the same ethos we did as a society by providing free HS education to the college level. I think there could be a balance, that perhaps a four year degree may not be necessary - but degrees and training in the trades, in nursing and other Health care related professions might pay us great dividends.
I think it a worthy debate.
