no one knows what's ahead. even you who claim high degrees of education on the matter, you don't actually 'know.'
many of us believe college sports is living in a bit of a bubble presently that may pop with declining revenues from tv and patrons (missouri and ku athletics are losing money presently) and increased expenses, particularly from player performance fees.
many think the present p5 setup will continue as is for the foreseeable future with the b12 expanding its footprint. i don't believe that kind of expansion will happen. but we really don't know, do we.
and it's highly unlikely, even if realignment happens, which i doubt, that public universities will be left wanting to the benefit of church schools like baylor and tcu or privates like wake and vandy. the politics of that would be problematic, nasty and troubling on so many levels.
all of this is thus filled with assumptions that can be argue unsuccessfully ad nauseam.
