I'm not joking. They have absolutely no chance of getting a P4 invite if/when the Big12 collapses. Iowa State, Baylor, and TCU are in the same boat.
IMO, the most likely realignment scenario is what almost happened in 2011, but was nixed at the last minute by UT's LHN deal with ESPN — UT, TTU, OU, and oSu leaving for the PAC. Unlike the B1G, the PAC would be willing to take TTU and oSu (as required baggage) to get UT and OU.
KU's only chance of getting in a P4 conference depends on OU being able to separate itself from oSu. Oklahoma's state legislature would block any attempt by OU to leave the Big12 without oSu, since doing so would destroy the Big12 and relegate oSu to a mid-major conference. The only way the state legislature would allow OU to leave the Big12 without oSu is if it became necessary for OU (e.g. if the Big12 were no longer a viable power conference, due to Texas leaving).
If that ever happens, then I can envision KU possibly getting into the B1G or PAC as "filler" with OU (and/or UT) being the catalyst(s) for expansion. Otherwise, oSu will take their spot in the PAC, or the B1G expansion will never happen since they would absolutely NEVER take oSu or TTU, even if they could get OU and UT.
