The QBs have Carta-Samuels to work on mechanics and Lock now has contacts from various camps to tap. Dooley’s job as QB coach is to make sure he and Lock are of one one mind when reading Defenses and making decisions within context of down, distance and game management.
My instinct is that a former HC brings a unique perspective to the OC position - a perspective nearly polar opposite that of a OC who has never been a HC. A HC-turned -OC brings with him a mental bank of ideas about the plays and situations he did NOT like as HC - his baseline instinct will be to minimize risk and manage the game to his squad’s strengths. An OC who has never been a HC may be less cognizant of the larger picture and more comfortable with risk and reward.
